I read somewhere that they were the same bullet.May or may not be right. Always thinking of something else to play with.

Sabotloader - I think you find, in the world of centerfire rifles, the plastic tips seem to promote more rapid expansion. At least in the case of the Nosler Ballistic Tip and the Hornady SST. But for some reason, the plastic tip on the Powerbelt Aerotip seems to have the opposite effect.

BUT, if it works there, centerfire, and works well - why would a company not transfer it to another popular bullet if will help sales... Bottom line $

Actually, I honestly think the ballistic tip will help ML bullets at a given velocity, but I am thinking that velocity range is narrow. Most ML ballistic tip bullets are pistol bullets with a thinner copper jacket anyway and pushing that tip back into the copper and then into the lead should insure expansion. And I think it will @ a given velocitywhat ever it might be. From what i have seen and read the SST/SW does not work as well short range as it does down range when the velocity is down.

PowerBelts - whole different story for me... A Powerbelt is nothing more than an elongated round ball. The lead is soft the copper is plating, but I would think the a comparable PowerBelt would more effective that the same caliber Round Ball - thePowerBeltcan have more weight and betterBC.

sabotloader,Actually I think the plastic tip is to help the BC and I think the other thing it does is keep the hollow point from getting a "plug" in it on animals with heavy hide a hollow point some times cuts a plug that fills the hollow point then they don't work right.
I personally am at a loss on the PB's to get them to group tight in my Omega Ihave to use 150gr loads then when they hit something even a ground hog they frag like a varmit bullet not to good for big game. Now and then I read where some body has good luck with them an wonder what they do different. Lee
