i also am dusting off my roundballs i bought, wow, 30 years ago.guess what, they are hornady in red box.speers are only bullet i use for my rifles .they are best in my book for reloading.i did a LOT of reloading. but the speer roundballs are more money than the hornady, so, i guess i stay with hornady too.

I can understand 2-3" groups at 50 yards using roundball/patch in a fast twist with a light powder charge, but yours is not light (60 grains) - plus your groups are 1".

Your 100 yard groups are phenomenol at 2". I am flabergasted by what you are getting. It blows the whole theory of needing a slow twist barrel& most consistent,real blackpowder right out of the water.

Seriously! You should apply for the Guinness Book Of World Records.

I will post pictures as soon as I get batteries for my digi cam. Then again you probably still wont believe it......... well im looking at my targets the 50 yard groups are just over an inch I guess I should have been a little more precise for ya. and the 100 yard target is probably a little closer to 3" but then again I guess i should have been more precise for you since obviously a few tenths of an inch make that much of a difference to ya..........

Triple Se7en,Actually there are inlines that shoot PRB real decent,I have a System One [1 in 38 ]twist that I have shot for many years it will shoot a 90 gr of Pistol and a .495 RB in a group of 2.5 inches for 5 shots with a ticking patch as long as you clean every 4 shots. My 54cal barrel for the same gun won't in fact that barrel only shoots one load good thats a 300gr Widner 50 cal bullet with 140grs of RS. The 50 cal likes several different powders and any .451 bullet from 200 to 260Gr as long as you don't try to use a 209.I often wonder at what causes the differances.Lee

I have a 1-28" inline that shoots PRB's into cloverleafs at 25 yards with 50 gr loose Pyrodex. Don't know what they are at 100, but at 25, it's impressive.

Any brand of swaged pure lead ball is OK. I have also had good results with ones I've cast myself in .445" and .500". The bigger they are, the harder it is to cast balls with no internal void, which offsets the ball's center of gravity and causes fliers.....
