RE: double barrel 50 cal

Colorado, I don’t put my info on because I don’t want anyone getting jealous :D. Naw, I think I was just busy whe I made the whole thing. Anyway, I had a CVA 209 primer 50 cal but gave it to a buddy. He needed one more than me. Besides, he gave me a brand new benelli M2 as a wedding gift so I kinda owe him. Anyway, I am contemplating getting the 50 cal barel for my NEF, it is only about a 100 bucks. What do you think?

The NEF is said to be a great shooter and very dependable. I think you might have a real good idea there.

Does anyone make a double barrel 50 cal M/L and is it legal to use? Or would it be legal to use? EJ
Yes, as caygad says, Pedersoli makes a double called the Kodiak, and it is available in .50, .54, .58, and .72 calibers through Dixie Gun Works and Cabela's. The one from Dixie has a straight-grip stock, and the Cabela's version has a pistol-grip style stock. These are beautiful, well-made guns and are quite accurate. Unfortunately, most states that have a special season for ML's force one to use a single-barrel weapon. This means you have to use your double during the regular modern firearms season. However, if you live somewhere like I do, where 100 yards is a long shot, using a double-barreled ML rifle in any season is no handicap!

Mine (a .54) shoots round balls like this @ 100 yards with 85 grains of Swiss FFg. Two rights, two lefts, R-L, R-L firing sequence.

Does anyone make one in a 209 primer inline version? That, would be cool! EJ

Traditions Performance Firearms shows a double barrel, over/under style 50 cal in 209. It is a bit too expensive for me, but it seems to be what you are asking for. The link is http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=REX-100

I never knew Tradition's made such a beast. With 1-28 twists it has to be aimed at the modern in line market. Many states only permit the one barrel. This would be the answer in states that allow it and you wanted a fast second shot. Be a lot of fun actually. Although I would wonder where both barrels would hit in relation to an identical POI.

This muzzleloading stuff has really came a long way from my old T/C Renegade I started with.

I think cabelas used to sell a swivel barrel 50 cal ml at one time. Do they still make those?

Well, that answers my question now doesnt it? At the tune of 1399 I can just about afford to hire a kid to carry a second rifle. Slick deal, too much. EJ
