Default quick question?

I cant seem to get any help with pinnacle powder in my area, One guy (in front of a crowd)"said they dont make it in 3f" I said see ya. Another said I was wrong , if goex makes it it's black powder, again I'm outta here! anyway is clean shot the same stuff? I can get a hold of that and is it reliable in my percussion as well as my in line? thanks D.

Pinnacle does come in 3f powder. I shoot it. It is made in cooperation with Goex and American Pioneer Powder Company. Clean Shot is about the same as American Pioneer Powder since Clean Shot later turned into American Pioneer Powder. I would guess they are the same thing. If it is Clean Shot it might be old powder. I am not sure if it is still made or not anymore. Some claim Pinnacle is the same as American Pioneer Powder. I personally can tell you they are different colored. Other then that they shoot about the same and clean up about the same.

You never go for a drive to a big town near you? Larger towns have stores that sell APP, Jim Shockey or Goex Pinnacle FFF. Do not buy the FF.... it's very coarse.

Clean Shot has been discontinued for a few years now. Odds are, it's lost's some of it's potency. It also has a poor history of absorbing moisture easily. I would pass on that powder -- even if it was only several dollars a jug.

Well, GOEX does NOT make Pinnacle, it is made by American Pioneer. This same outfit used to call their powder Clean Shot. How much difference there is between APP and old Clean Shot, I don't know. As far as ballistic perfomance is concerned, I am not convinced that Pinnacleis any different than APP's own labelled stuff (APP or Gold). Looks like caygad believes this too. The two brandsmay not LOOK exactly the same, however.

GOEXdid at one time make a substitute powdercalled ClearShot. You had to use the FFF granulation of this stuff to get up close to BP velocities-the FF was VERYweak. Other than that, it was a good powder-absolutely NONCORROSIVE!! GOEX does NOT presently make any substitute powder, just BP.

I doubt if GOEX will EVER make a substitute again, as evidenced by their using an APP produce with a GOEX label, and the fact that they had a serious accident on the ClearShot production line which never re-started afterward.
