I've been using 2 50 gr. T7 pellets ,W-W 209 primers, and a 250 gr. Shock Wave. I'm going to try loose T7, what works better 2F or 3F?

I have gone totally to fffg in side locks and continue to use 2f in the inlines.

Remember that 100 grains 2f is a greater charge than 2 50 grain pellets. and going to 3f you should probably reduce another 10% andwork up or down from there.

A lot of people are getting better velocity and even reporting better accuracy with 3f in the inlines, but I can not say that has worked for me in my tests...

I've never been able to get 3f in Triple Se7en so I can not comment on that. I shoot a lot of 3f Goex and now that I have such a large supply of Pyrodex RS I will be shooting that too...

Triple Se7en 2f I am sure will give you excellent accuracy, but there are those that shoot Triple Se7en 3f... this is an interesting question.

My rifle is an inline,T/C Omega. If I'm not using 150 gr. charges I don't see any advantage to using pellets. The 1 lb. canisters work out to be a lot cheaper and the charges can be tweaked in 10 gr. increments. Thanks for the info.

I could look this up I am sure but, how long is the barrel on the Omega? The real advantage to 3f in an inline is with the 22/24" barrels. Since 3f is so fine it really burns rapidly, and in a short barrel that would be a +. A rifle with a longer barrel might not recieve the velocity boost from 3f as do the short barrels. One of the inlines I am shooting is a A&H when I have experimented with the two powder I have not recieved a significant boost with 3f, somewhere between 100 - 200 ft. per second.

Just my thoughts & I agree withyour thought about loose vs pellets. Once a long time ago it was really easy to use pellets but $ become a big factor if you shoot alot.

In my opinion 3f works best in short barrels with light bullets and small calibers[under 50] 2f has work best for me heavy loads, long barrels and medium to heavy bullets.

My Omega has a 28" barrel. It has that section at the muzzle that's over bore,so actually it's a 27" barrel. I bouught a pound of T7 2F. I've got some Pyrodex RS and T7 pellets to use up with conicals to smooth out my bore before I try the loose powder.

I shoot 2F in my Omega. As stated above, reduce your load 15% when using loose vs. pellets. In other words, 88 grains of loose equals aprox 100 gr 777pellets. Or saying it another way, if you use 100 grains of loose, you are using the equavalent of about 115 grains pyrodex.

Sounds like a really good plan. The t7 -2f should work great for you...

With the t7 if you start getting the "crud ring" give a shout I think I might have a way to beat that also. If you have difficulty getting the sabot down the barrel give another shout - there is no good reason to have to struggle to get one down.

Make sure you boil out the barrel before you start shooting - get it clean...

What about if you were using T7 pellets (100gr) and then want to try loose 3f of Jim shockeys gold. If I recall it's supposed to be volume equivalant I thought, however because it's 3f vs. pellets being made with 2f don't this increase pressure? lets say in an encore with a 26" barrel (includes QLA)?Thoughts?
