Proofed my .73 Jaeger
Proof-fired my Jaeger .73 yesterday. Used two .735" balls with0.010" Ox-Yoke patches and 200 grains of Swiss FFg. Fired it the first time with a fuze, with the gun strapped to an old tractor tire. After ascertaining that there were no loose spots in the bore, and that the breech plug and touch-hole liner were still where they are supposed to be, I loaded her up with 120 grains of the same powder and one ball. Recoil was "adequate", but due to the fat butt, it was not too uncomfortable. Lock time was quick (Davis Jaeger lock, White Lightning touch-hole liner). This rifle's going to be a lot of fun to shoot!
After I get the sights installed (tomorrow's project) and the stock finish-shaped and finished, I'llchronograph theload.
Wish I could find some 1/2" Jaeger-style ramrod pipes-I think 7/16" is a tadon the smallish size for such a cannon.

eldequello.. congratulations on the christening of the barrel. That will be a real interesting rifle to hear about. Like the twist rate, and roundball accuracy out of it. Again, shoot well and safe!!
