RE: power belts

ORIGINAL: silver 77/50

I use to shoot powerbelts, never could get them to shoot good groups. One day I dug several out of the sand bank and guess what they still had the green plastic skirt on them.Shooting 90 grains of 777.I also found several tears in the target that were oblong like the bullet was tumbling.Switched to SST 250's now that is a good shooting round just wish they loaded like the power belts.
I had the same problem with powerbelts and triple se7en powder. They way I got around that was before I load the powerbelt, I pull the plastic button. There is a lead spike on the bottom of the conical you will see. Put some bore butter, lard, oil, even spit on that spike and them replace the plastic button. It helps them shed the button faster and improves the accuracy. I suspect the triple se7en ingition is so hot, that it effects the way the conical sheds the plastic button. After I started lubing the spike, I never had a problem with them again.
