Default HELP!!!

I just picked up a used Knight LK II, but I can't get teh people at KNight to send me any info.
My question is- What is a good charge weight and bullet weight to start at for sighting in, and for deer hunting purposes? Any help would be great.

I own and shoot a Knight LK-II I was told by Knight customer service the rifleis a Knight Wolverine LK-93 II . This used to be the Knight bread and butter line of hunting rifle. These were and are known for their strength and dependability. This rifle is .50 caliber with a 22" barrel and #11 cap ignition. The max powder load for this rifle is 120 grains of loose powder. Since you shoot a #11 cap, pellets are not recommended.

It is a great shooting rifle as you will soon find out. They are easy to clean and care for and are very dependable.I hunted last year in a sleet/snow storm and my rifle always went off. Do not let the #11 cap ignition scare you. They are dependable.

I shoot 90 grains of Goex 3f and a T/C Mag Express 240 grain XTP. I have a 3-9x40mm Sightron I scope on the rifle and this thing is a real shooter, as you might be able to tell. When I want to really shoot impressive groups, I get some 250 grain Barnes Expanders. I load them the same, 90 grains of 3f Goex and it will shoot a ragged hole. The only reason I do not shoot a lot of the Barnes Expanders is the price. I keep a few around for hunting with. Other then that the 240 grain XTP shoot almost as well and are a lot more cost effective to shoot.

Start your loads out around 80 grains of powder and work you way up. I found anything over 90 grains and the accuracy started to break open some. I have pushed them to 100 grains and still the accuracy was veryacceptable, it is just that with 90 grains. I have a little tighter group and would hate to live on the difference in projectile ballistics.

Go to Wal Mart if you have one in your area. They sell the 240 grain XTP's. You might also want to get some of the Hornady XTP's in 300 grain weight. Your rifle might like a more heavy bullet. The back knob safety you need to watch. It will turn it self on while you shoot, so check it and make sure it is all the way to the rear, and I mean ALL THE WAY or the striker will not hit the cap hard enough to ignite the cap andfire the rifle. This back knob safety makes it nice for checking the striker after you clean the rifle because you wheel that in, and the striker can not hit the #11 nipple and do it damage. Also a nice way to take the rifle off cock.

I also shot Pinnacle 3f out of the rifle last winter with excellent results. If you can not get Goex in your area, I would suggest some Pyrodex P or Triple Se7en FFg. They all work. I shoot Goex because I shoot it off by the case lot. Cheaper that way...

Good luck with your rifle. If there is anything I can help you with or answer, let me know. Be sure and swab between shots, and this rifle will really put them in there....

I had an american knite and it loved the 240 grain xtps cayugad mentions , in front of 2 pyrodex pellets , my friends t-bolt likes the same load . Both guns are very accurate , shooting around 2 inches at 100 yards with this load .
