herman..

I am glad you mentioned that. Not only did the blue sabots break a lot of the petals off, but some of them flew over 35 yards down range. I was a little surprised finding them that far down range. I was thinking something might be wrong with the sabots or the rifle was really pushing them too hard with the charge.

But they did shoot excellent. And actually the recoil was not bad at all. As for a deer load, I see no reason why they would not be an excellent hard hitting deer load. Although I personally like bigger heavy bullets. If I had shots that were of any distance or perhaps an antelope hunt in the future I would be packing them and some Triple Se7en along with me.

Strange that the flyers would come so fast after not swabbing. I hope to try them at much longer distances this weekend or next. I really think I can connect out to 200 yards with them. Now if my new range finder would hurry up and get here.... :D

The three shot group of the 200 grain Shockwaves with the Triple Se7en measured right at 3/4 of an inch
Cayugad, that is typically the kind of accuracy I'm getting with that same load in a T/C Omega. It is an exceptionally accurate projectile even out to 200 yds. which is the furthest I've shot it at.

To be honest I thought I was just having a good day. After I stopped swabbing the barrel the group opened up almost at once. But it was still respectable. I want to try shooting these out to 200 yards. Not because I will hunt with them this year, just to see if I can do it. Thanks for the heads up with the accuracy. I used to think the 250 grain we tops.

Like herman said, I bet these little devils with 110 grains of Triple Se7en under them would really put a world of hurt on a deer if you put them in the right place. There is one place I could shoot these if I hunt the big fields again during the modern season... I might have to keep them in mind...

Thanks for the test and report. 110g of T7?? I assume that is a safe load if you tried it - I always thought 100g was the max on this powder. I suppose shooting a 200g projectile must cut down on the barrel pressure vs. a 250g with the same load.

That will depend on the make of your rifle Roseaukaine. I believe the CVA, Tradition, and some of the other rifles out there with BPI barrels do not advocate the use of more then 100 grains of loose powder. I know this is the case in my CVA Staghorn Magnum. This would mean 100 grains of Pyrodex, Goex, Pinnacle, and American Pioneer Powder. Whether they allow 100 grains of Triple Se7en FFg or 110 grains would be a question you need to address with the maker of your rifle. Triple Se7en is approximately 15% stronger then Pyrodex in loose form. That would mean it would take 126.5 grains of Pyrodex to equal the power of 110 grains of Triple Se7en. I shot these loads out of a Thompson Center Black Diamond XR which allows such a powder charge, and then some actually. I do not advocate the duplication of my load for anyone. Please, for your own safety check your owner's manual and make sure the charge you are about to use is considered safe for your rifle...

Alot of us here at Hunting.net recommend Spanish barrel users to stay at or below the 100 grain powder recommendations cited by either/both the ML manufacturer and the powder manufacturer.
