Thompson Center Omega Z-5
#1
Fellow hunters,
Has anyone shot the Thompson Center Omega Z-5? If so, how did it perform?
I am in the market for an inline Muzzleloader andwould like togetone for under $350 (booked too many hunting trips). I understand this is one of the better values for the money.
Even if you haven't shot this muzzleloader, whichcompany(s) do you think is making the best gunfor under $350?

I don't own an omega but I own numerous Thompson Center rifles. They are very high quality rifles. Their customer service and support is second to none. The Omega was rated one of the highest in customer satisfaction. All the posts I have read on the Omega talk about the accuracy and overall excellent quality of the rifle.
I do not think you could make a better choice. If I did not own a Thompson Center Black Diamond XR I would have an Omega myself. The other make of rifles that I feel are right in there with the Omega quality are some of the Knight Rifles. But overall it is going to be hard to find a better rifle then the Omega.

I am also looking at the Z-5.I was told(by TC)the only difference between the z-5 & the omega is a lesser rearsite & a stainless steel breech plug.I don't know about anyone else, but I like the thought of a ss breach plug.(walmart ptice $288)

Today I drove to the big city and went sports shop bumming. Bad mistake by the way. But I got to handle one of the new Omega's with the thumbhole stock and the special fiber optic sights. What a nice rifle. Well balanced, and comes right to the shoulder. Needless to say we put that down real fast. Ended up spending too much in there anyway, but I can sure understand why all you people are leaning towards that new Omega. Although was I just tickled to play with new rifles or is that rascal kind of on the light side?
