You might try tripple 7. It is easier to clean up IMO. I also oil everything down pretty good when I am done cleaning. I would use steel wool on the rust. The bluing is gone there anyway and if you go over, they make blue that you can apply yourself. It doesn't look perfect but it looks better than rust. Take it off, reblue with cold blue touch up and then keep it well oiled when stored.

WHEN YOU DISSEMBLE IT TAKE SOME 0000 STEEL WOOL WITH A LITTLE OIL ON IT THEN OIL IT GOOD BEFORE YOU REASEMBLE IT I ALWAYS SPRAY WD ON ALL PARTS AFTER HUNTING THIS KEEPS IT IN GOOD SHAPE.
