The only thing I would add to Semisane's thread is an easy crowning method. Go to the hardware store and buy an appropriate size cap nut and bolt. Cut the head off the bolt and attach the cap nut and apply grinding compound to the cap nut. chuck it up in a drill and have at it. It will give you a nice even crown.
