canadian moose hunt

what week would be the best time to hunt the rut for moose..last week of sept, first two weeks of october? I have been invited to go to Bryson Lake Lodge, located Quebec zone 12, north of Pontiac county. Has anyone heard of this area?
Thanks

Wow is the rutt that late in Quebec?
Here in alberta, it varies from the last week on sept in the north, to about the second week of oct. Where I hunt them with my outfitting, it's the last week of sept, and where my friends and I go for rec hunting it's the 3rd to 11th of oct.

Last week of Sept, and 1st week of October are the best weeks in Manitoba. Usually.

hmmm, i might have it wrong then being the 3rd week in oct, maybe it is the first two weeks of october. i just know that oct is better for the rut than sept is. in bc the moose season is from sept 10-nov. 5, calves are oct 10-25 and moose opens on aug 15 a few hours north of where i live.

Last time I went to northern Sask. we were there the 2nd week of Oct for Black Bear and moose. That seemed to be the perfect time up there. Shot a big cow moose and a 500+lb Blackie. 45-70 Marlin.

I hunt in Saskatchewan and would agree with the others last week in sept to first week in october are usually the best in terms of the peak. I would talk with outfitters or hunters in the area and then plan based on their experience/expertise. Like mentioned they can vary slightly within the same province based on the area, so it is always best when determining the timeframe to either know or ask when the usual peak maybe. Bulls can be drawn in on either side of the peak rut time, but the closer to the peak the better odds and more opportunities you'll have to find a bull to your liking.

Best of luck.

The moose rut hits me in northwestern Ontario the last week of September into the first week of October. If I had to only pick one week it would be the September week.

Thanks for your suggestions. The first week of October was booked, and the choices left were the last week of september or the second week of october. We took the last week of september. I have been a deer hunter for 25 years with a bow and gun.
I am a newbie to moose hunting and have 5 months to prepare for this hunt. I am excited..Any suggestions would be appreciated...How the heck do ya get a 1,000lb moose home:eek:

I have hunted moose most of my hunting career and have taken lots and seen lots more taken. By far the best week is the last one in September. Last fall I called in a 2 1/2 year old bull in the first hour of my hunt, totally rut crazed bull! He was relatively easy to get out as he dropped around 150 yds from a skidder trail. Normally the only way to get them out is to quarter them on the spot and pack them out on your backs or an ATV. Good luck and have fun. Much better meat than deer.
