RE: First Antelope
jjt, Im not totally clear on how the draw system works in WY. I have been accumulating preference pts for Moose and RockyMt. Bighorn, but there is no such thing for Elk nor Antelope. I really don't understand it.
Im going to try agian next year but I'll be going thriugh an outfitter and be on private land. Im not sure but that may make a fifference?
Good luck to you on the draw next year.
Work hard and be true to yourself.

the way i understand it the more preference points the better your chance for drawing that tag be it res. or nonres.
the elk and deer however are on a different system i believe they set aside a certain number of nonres licenses and the odds depend on how many put in for that region etc
for us who are residents here we can buy general deer and elk over the counter. whe still have to draw for all speciality deer and elk hunts
antelope/moose/bighorn/bison/mountain goat these all have to be drawn by everyone (res or nonres)
for antelope/deer/elk there is a lot of tags so there is no need for the preference points
however i have put in for 13 years for a bull moose and have not drawn as of yet
bighorn would be fun but you have to have alot of $. it usually requires a guide with all the ammenities (horses, base camp, etc)
there has been talk of preference points for more hunts but i havent seen anything new yet
