I'm planning a Caribou hunt and I'm looking at different outfitters. The two most popular/reputable outfitteres seem to be Jack Hume Adventures and Sammy Cantafio Ungava Adventures.
Prices and services seem to be about equal and all internet searches give very positive feedback on both outfits.. Anybody have any first hand experience or recomendations with either outfitter?
I'm also not sure about the pros and cons of the best time to do the hunt? Early in the caribou season or towards the end of the season? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Mulie...I have not hunted with either outfitter personally, but I can relay what I have heard...
Both are reputable and have been in business a long time...
Two close friends of mine hunted with Hume last year and had a super hunt... Hume has a lot of camps, and more importantly, his own airplanes ( unlike some who charter planes for clients) so he has the ability to put hunters where the animals are... His operation is extremely well organized and well run...
I've hunted caribou a number of times and have kicked around the hunting forums for years and I have heard very little criticism of either of these outfitters... I have heard it said that Sammy tended to pay more attention to his CELEBRITY clients than his regular clients, but I suppose any of the outfitters might do that...
If I were booking a hunt in Quebec, I would probably book with Hume, because of consistently good reports over the years and because of my friends' experience... They hunted the first week of September...The four big bulls they took still had velvet but were hard horned...
Good luck.....Chances are you will have a good hunt with whichever outfit you choose..
Caribou hunting is great fun and just being on the beautiful arctic tundra is a wonderful experience...
