Me and a couple of buddies are planning a black bear trip to Prince of Whales Island next spring. It's a do it yourself hunt. We aren't hiring a guide service. I have studied up on the area, but was wondering if anybody around here has hunted the island before and could give me some pointers. Any advice would be appreciated.

had my first bear hunt this year. the hardest thing i found was judging size. and if your use to hunting deer, aim high.

There is a awesome little bed and breakfast in Kaassan on Prince of wales. Its called Country Lace run by a old native couple the food is awesome and they are really helpfull. 907-542-2210. Its a great place to base out of and there are quite a few bears in the area.
