NRA is in bed with USO. The previous two issues of American Hunter have articles glorifying USO. I urge you to contact NRA and let them know how you feel concerning this USO NRA partnership.

not for long!!!! hehe The NRA is really being foolish right now, well maybe not perhaps the NRA's major funders support the USO and the NRA is just following the money. either way that pisses me off I'm not gonna renew my membership untill they drop USO like a bad habit. Ive been a NRA memeber for over 10 years Im really freakin pissed about this. What really sucks is I was gonna join a gun club here in arizona but inorder to be a member it is mandatory to be a NRA memeber, I guess its becuase they are insured through the NRA or some BS like that. Could that be considered discrimination not allowing me to be a memeber in their club if I refuse to be a memeber of the NRA? I'm gonna email the NRA and that gun club right now.

One thing to keep in mind, any articles your reading in the current/recent issues were likely written, edited, and layed out in the mag well before the most recent rulings from the court. There's a pretty big lead time in putting together a monthly publication. That would probably be especially so with the NRA - multiple magazines with "normal" articles in the center wrapped by semi-current events articles on the outer pages. That probably makes the lead time on the "interior" articles even longer.

Which articles are you refering to? In the most recent issue of American Hunter I noted the small "current news" mention of the court ruling and that was all. I've yet to read through the whole thing though.

If you do drop the NRA, at least check into the Second Amendment Foundation or some similar group.

I'll admit guys this one is a little tough for me. I am certainly going to send NRA some complaints and chastise them for supporting USO. BUT.....the NRA is one of the leading advocates for protecting our gun rights. Thats a big issue in our country right now and I think we need all the help we can get. I don't know if dropping support from them is the best thing to do right now. I HATE what USO is doing but I hate even more what the anti-gunners are doing. My mama always taught me to pick my battles, and I'm not sure this is one I want.

I would never pull my NRA membership. The NRA is the best voice and the most powerful voice we as hunters and gun owners have. My gun rights mean much more to me then some stupid lawsuit that has to do with elk tags.

The NRA is nothing more than an organization designed to spread propaganda and raise money for the republican party. I can in no way support that and I am not at all surprised to hear that they are in cahoots with USO. All the big shots making the decisions for the NRA are the type of people who would use USO and more then likely are paying for with your money.

TX High Rack,

The NRA actually does very little to protect your hunting rights. The NRA has sat quietly by while bear baiting has been outlawed in Western states, the NRA did nothing to prevent the loss of trapping rights in Colorado, and the NRA was conspicuously quiet when California law makers tried to outlaw field trials on public lands. The NRA plays a very limited role in protecting your hunting rights.

The NRA will fight for your guns, but they won't do much for your hunting rights. That is why I belong to Safari Club International. Sure, its a bunch of rich old white guys with too much time and money in all of their magazines, but SCI does fight for your hunting rights. So, if you drop the NRA consider supporting SCI. Especially if you hunt, they are the lobby working hard for your hunting rights.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is a very worthwhile organization. They have been a big factor in reintroducing elk in eastern Ky. along with other states and have worked hard to preserve key habitat in the western states. I am a proud member, and will continue to be as long as they do not choose to take political sides. Politicians have really corrupted our sport.
