Default drinking in the mountains

Will be Hunting around 9000 ft in MT and would just like some opinions on what you all drink other than water. I read all the stuff here about how much to bring but I just hate drinking straight water all the time and was wondering if any one took along Gatorade or Propel or some other type of sports drink?

thanks.

I like to take tea which I can drink hot or cold. Keep in mind to drink at least an ounce of water for every ounce of anything else. This is more important if anything else you drink has caffeen.

Stay away from carbonated drinks, (this can suck if your a pepsi addict like me)they really affect your lung capacity. The effects last about 36hrs.

My advice would be to take along some powerdered gatorade or some really nifty stuff called Emergen-C.

go here: http://www.herbshop.com/emergen_c.htm

I have a knapsack that has a bladder in it and easy to use so I drink more and stay hydrated. I also add a little cider vineger to the water, it add some taste and helps the water go down. I got that trick from history, the Roman legions did it.

I think any of the sports drinks work well. Caffeine is a diuretic which means it helps lead to dehydration. Limit the amount of caffeine you intake, and you should be fine. I usually just drink water, but I know guys that drink alot of Gatorade and juices. Also, if you eat a lot of fruits, that will help keep you hydrated as well.

Two parts.... What I drink when hunting and what I drink when I'm not (since we're there 16 days and hunt for only a max of 5 days.

1. When we are hunting: water, orange juice and coffee.

2. The rest of the time.... well, variety is the spice of life.... and in moderation a little libation does not hurt most folks and tends (in our group) to cement camaraderie, over the course of 16 days....

Orange Juice
Water
Iced Tea
Coffee
Hot chocolate
Chocolate Persuasions (Hot chocolate with peppermint schnaps)
Soda
Beer
Margaritas
Cognac (with cigars)
Red and White Wine (especially on banquet night --- invite the neighboring camp over)

Did I mention beer? Takes a lot of beer to butcher an elk! Four people can do about three elk per day (a big day).

Caveat:
This is around 9000' and with folks who are acclimated. Tender folks may want to walk a little more straight and narrow.
