RE: 64-inch Moose

Seems to me that if I hit an animal with my vehicle while traveling down the road, and that animal damages my vehicle, and the animal dies from the impact or has to be put down anyways, I should be able to keep the meat and antlers for myself, if I want it. It is that way here in CO. and it is that way in KS. Having to pay for, or buy, an animal that just caused me an expense already, just seems, well, wrong!!
On edit, it's not like you went out and poached the animal! And having to pay more for larger antlers, sheez. That's goofy!

Yeah,

But you don't understand Alaska. While we were waiting to get towed into town, the Trooper was telling me how years back, people were INTENTIONALLY hitting moose so they could keep the meat from the road kill, hence the "state owns the dead critter" stance. Now, I don't know if its true, but it makes a good story.

A buddy of mine was almost killed last year avoiding a cow elk (he was in an F-350). You are lucky to have survived this thing.
