64-inch Moose
I took a 64-inch moose last night!!!!!!!!!
Unfortnately, I did it with my F-250. No one was hurt, and the cow-catcher on my truck did an amazing job of keeping the moose off of the vehicle. A charity organization came out and collected the poor critter. A pretty crappy evening to say the least. |
RE: 64-inch Moose
I'd like to see a picture...................of your truck!! I'd have to imagine to hit a moose hard enough to kill it, you got some vehicle damage no matter how good of grill gaurd ya got.
I was also hopeing to see a pciture of a 64" moose too, since I'm comig up to hunt your great state in less than 2 weeks, and that would give me an idea of what to look for;) |
RE: 64-inch Moose
I just about smoked a cow one night coming down a mountain road. After a change of shorts, and new front rotors on my truck, everyone was happy.

RE: 64-inch Moose
Did you get to keep the antlers??

RE: 64-inch Moose
Gee Guys,
Call me strange, but I guess taking a picture of a moose that smashed my truck up kind of escaped me at the moment. The State Troopers took the moose and the antlers. They will auction them off during Fur Rhondie this year. I think I may try to purchase them. |
RE: 64-inch Moose
Wow! I guess you should consider yourself lucky eh? I love to see moose close but not that close.

RE: 64-inch Moose
I'm surprised they didn't offer to sell them to you then. I am pretty sure here in pa you can keep a roadkill but you have to pay for the anters. Something like 10$ a point but I'm not certain.

RE: 64-inch Moose
Seems to me that if I hit an animal with my vehicle while traveling down the road, and that animal damages my vehicle, and the animal dies from the impact or has to be put down anyways, I should be able to keep the meat and antlers for myself, if I want it. It is that way here in CO. and it is that way in KS. Having to pay for, or buy, an animal that just caused me an expense already, just seems, well, wrong!!
On edit, it's not like you went out and poached the animal! And having to pay more for larger antlers, sheez. That's goofy! |
RE: 64-inch Moose
Yeah,
But you don't understand Alaska. While we were waiting to get towed into town, the Trooper was telling me how years back, people were INTENTIONALLY hitting moose so they could keep the meat from the road kill, hence the "state owns the dead critter" stance. Now, I don't know if its true, but it makes a good story. |
RE: 64-inch Moose
A buddy of mine was almost killed last year avoiding a cow elk (he was in an F-350). You are lucky to have survived this thing.
