** Go with good, fun loving, hardworking people (like yourself).
** Take along enough cash or have enough room on your credit card to allow you to do what you need to do.
With those two you can have a worthwhile trip regardless what else happens.

Get in the best shape of your life, then improve on that!
An ad on to that one is to arrive several days early to get adjusted to the altitude. No matter how good of shape I am in, the altitude kicks me in the butt for th first 2-3 days.

I would say the most important and over looked tip when elk hunting is having the right boots. You can have the best camo, scent stuff, be the best shot in the world, be in the best shape, and have mastered all elk hunting techniques, but if you've got big ole blisters on your heels and toes you just aren't going to be able to get around and get to the elk.

Hunt where they live, scouting your area is just as important. You can hunt the same hill side for years and never see a elk, move a ridge over and they can be all over.
Gotta find'em to hunt them.BBJ
