RE: CDOW, plans to kill 4000 plus deer
Actually the DOW's plan is to kill 800 deer for 5 years, which like others have said is on 99% private land. The majority of the 4,500 will be in unit 9 and several hundred in a few eastern plains units. The DOW started blasting the deer last year in the northeastern units and have already started killing some this month in the northern units. They will NEVER be able to stop CWD, they (the DOW) have created an unstoppable monster. All it takes is one deer to infect an otherwise healthy herd. Right now there are about 15 units in Colorado that have had deer and elk test positive for CWD and 4 other states now have it. Hopefully they can get a handle on it before it spreads east, but it sounds like it may be to late.

something else that I heard, and maybe you Colo. guys can clear this up, is that there are some landowners that are not letting the CDOW kill any deer on thier property. If this is so, than there is certainly know way to stop the spread, and what the heck are the landowners thinking by not letting CDOW do "what they think is right" by culling the animals! I guess know one really knows how to stop the spread of the disease, but by doing nothing just seems like it would inadequate too!

Check this out and see if it answers some of your questions on CWD.

If I remember correctly, it's caused by an "organism" (protein molecules a/ virus-y reproductive strategy). <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
organism is just the fancy scientific word for living thing.
