I am planning a trip to S.L.C. this june and thought it would be a great time to scout for a new hunting area instead of staying with my wifes inlaws. I will have several days to scout for deer and I plan on backpacking as much as possible. The problem is that I dont even know where to start looking! Mule deer hunting is new to me except for the plains of Wyoming, where I used to be able to hunt. I realize the draw system and am aware the fact that it might take several years. Does anyone have any advice on starting location? I dont want anyones hopspot, just a general idea. Mountain range, county ect.... I have seen alot on the internet but the hunting seems mostly to be posted by either non hunters or people trying too sell something. Any advice out there?
