this fall i will be able to hunt black bear teh first time adn baiting is illegal where i will be going here in N. Carolina and was wondering if you any of you guys had success using a call, like a rabbit in distress or something of that nature?

I haven't had any luck calling them in with distress calls, but twice I have called them in during turkey season with turkey calls.

I'm not suggesting that a turkey call is your best bet, but they have responded to calls and I think the main reason I have not called one in with a distress call is I use them mainly hunting coyotes and other predators while a bear would be hibernating.
