any flat shooting calibre is good loaded with premium bullets, speedgoat is right on the money in stating to shoot thru the front shoulders and anchor your goat on the spot as they have a tendency to launch into space when hurt.
overall any where in the kootneys has a good population of goat, tell your outfitter on the trophy size you want and hunt hard every day dawn to dust. be able to judge that head yourself and if it is not meet your specifications, go hard and find one that will. my first hunt i let 13 differant billies walk before i was happy. i hope this helps if you need more info post me.

hi. rbou
i use a camptrail condor 95, it is a big volume frame/ freighter combo pack. because i back pack into the mountains i have to bring tent, sleeping bag, thermo rest, food, stove, light etc. you probably don't need a pack this big because your guide will probably have a cabin in the area you are hunting in, also they most likely have horses for the trails. however you probably will have future hunts, where you will be backpacking on your own. therefore a big pack would be a neccessity
