I had a very similar experience with a Cape buffalo this past March. I can tell you this much. When something like this happens, you will find out what you are made of. The guys can be proud that they stood their ground and they can rejoice that they survived. Here is a picture of my Buff. The old guy is me. The young guy is my Professional Hunter. The dead one is the buffalo.

I do hope this wasn't a "hunt" and indeed the lion needed destroyed. Weather sport, or simply dispatching an animal. WOW, Holy Crap & fall back into it. That would definitly make your butt pucker!!

If the shoe fits....wear it! Indeed, the lion had "more of a chance" to return the favor than any animal you ever harvasted....I'd venture to say!?!
