Eastern bear+deer concurrent seasons
What eastern states have black bear and whitetail seasons concurrently? Primarily looking for a public land place I can camp at or near with lots of miles to cover.
I know Pennsylvania has certain units with a combined rifle deer season and "extended bear season. But my PA hunting is pretty filled up already. Looking for another option.
Prefer rifle seasons but muzzleloader would be fine as well.

I think I'm gonna take that muzzleloader season off this year for PA as I might not be able to hunt the regular bear season this year.
looking for somewhere other than PA though.

New York. The Northern Tier (think Adirondacks) bear and deer overlap from ML to the end of the season...roughly mid october to the beginning of december. The southern tier similarly overlaps, but starts later october, not sure when it ends.

That's what I'm thinking Dave. Lots of big woods. Lots of areas to roam. Lots of steep country and low odds of success. Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Long season is a plus as well.

What I'm really hoping for is to find something close enough that I can do yearly or every few years. A big chunk of land I can set up and learn each year. With a reasonable chance of deer and bear success.
I've taken a PA black bear. And will continue to hunt the PA seasons. Focus of this will be bear. Having the concurrent deer season just gives me something to possibly put a tag on if a good one shows up in front of me.Really looking for that wilderness fix more than anything. A chance to get out and camp and disappear in the woods for a couple days. That's the draw to the Adirondacks. I've gotten a few good suggestions to look into in west Virginia too with some pretty sizeable chunks of land. -Jake
