Default Montana elk Thanksgiving weekend

My self and friends had a very nice weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday, all be it windy. Took 3 bulls and a cow elk. It is always fun to hunt with young folks in the field, seeing their excitement and happiness is one of the finest rewards of sharing our love of the outdoors. We call his spike "the unicorn bull"!

Your elk group is having a nice season. Was the unicorn this young man's first elk?

How was the deer season?

This was actually his 4th elk, all bulls. Him and his father both took spikes that afternoon, at the same time basically. 4 bucks were harvested, a couple cull bucks and a non typical mulie along with a 4 pt. I passed on a few decent bucks in the hopes next fall they will be around, mulie bucks need more time to grow into a real trophy it seems vs a whitetail. Most difficult thing is to stop road hunters from shooting 2.5 year old 4 points, seems this is a never ending problem...
