Default WI Bear Tag

I have secured my 3rd bear tag. Since I found out I was selected I've been busy securing hunting spots. Do far I have 3 different areas and would like 2 or 3 more.
My zone you can only bait.
so I'll be busy this summer. Trail cam pics to follow.

Congrats! I was putting I have been putting in up there for a few years but decided not to this year. Was planning on going with an outfitter I know but the success has dropped quite a bit and I could only afford 1 shot at it lol. May just save up and get up to Idaho or New Brunswick. Keep us posted though on how you do.

Its been a dream of mine to get after bear for quite a while and we are starting to get them here as well so maybe I'll get lucky and stumble on one eventually lol.

Kelly.
Attaining a Zone C tag is far easier than a Zone B. That much I do know.
This is my third chance in 5 yrs.
It appears I can attain a Zone C Wi tag every other yr.

But Zone C has its limits. It is a baiting zone only. No dogs can be used.
I am not using a guide nor an outfitter but am working on my own.
I have been extremely lucky securing huntable private property.
I have secured 3 parcels and am working on 2 more.
I figure I can handle and monitor 5 to 6 bait sites.
Each site I'll monitor via trail cam.
You betcha I'll be adding to this post.
One site the owner has allowed me to Turkey hunt in the past so he knows me.
The other 3 I gained from a group facebook post where I solicited for a spot to hunt. It was a shot in the dark which worked far better than I anticipated.

The others - I hope to gain via a letter asking for permission.

I use the county GIS mapping system on my lap top to get addresses of landowners and view terrain.
And I use OnXmaps to look via satelitte if the property has locations I'm looking for.
All of the areas I have been researching does have bear as I've seen them in my Turkey scouts.

Well Jake I'm sorta self taught. My first year I had a nice bear coming during daylight per my trail cam. Was packing up the truck for the 3 hr ride and my wife stumbled off the porch and broke her arm. Hunt over.
Then 2 yrs later I secured a 2nd tag but health issues stopped me. I had about given up and a neighbor gave me a spot to hunt. Trail cam pics of good bears.
So I sat.
One late afternoon after many days of seeing nothing I lost focus and moved ever so slightly because of a skeeter.
Well 31 yds in front of me was this big black shape with no distinguishing legs or head. It just wheeled 180 and sorta floated away fast WITHOUT AS SO MUCH A BRANCH BUSTED, and that spooked me.
What did I see? That day was overcast.
The next day was sunny and as the sun set it illuminated the forest floor at timest and yes I saw a bear.
That was as close I've gotten.
Now I've had several within mere arms reach sitting in my Turkey blind.
But that episode spooked me.

So
This year I'm attacking it.
I have secured 3 properties where bear have been taken and one new one to prospect.
I'm all over this county.
I'm looking for 2 more.
All private.
I do have lots if public to explore but will concentrate on private.
And it has been there for the askin'.
To date no tresspass fee. But I'll place kringles or SCJ product or a bottle as a thank you.

Mow what to use to shoot with?
Working with a Sharps 0.54 cal. I had fitted with a tang peep site.
Has a fold down front bead too.

Waiting for warmer weather to develop my load.
Or my CVA 50.

But it definitely will be black powder.
