Default elk success photos

Success photo from Idaho hunt this year. Opening morning called in a small herd in the fog up to about 40 yards. When they saw me they spooked a little. I cow called like crazy and the stopped about 150 yards out and went back to feeding.
I waited until the fog lifted a little and then started cow calling again.
This is the bull I shot, a 5 by 4. Called into 100 yards in the fog. Shot with 300win mag and 200gr Nosler Partition.

My friend shot one in the same spot the next morning but I will have to repost. Can' t figure how to get them both to show in this one.

Looks like the .300 comes through again. Nice work. And they say you can' t call bulls in that late in the season, here you called in two. Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like you got some good eating there. elknut1

Thanks for the responses guys.

Elknut I have been listening to your CD on calling, I borrowed it from Chad.
Good stuff, I am learning a lot.
Any serious elk hunter can pick something up from your audio tapes and they are a must for beginners if they want to jump start the learning process.

Congrats on the elk! I heard one bugle, more like a whistle, on the 18th of October when I shot my bull. Not a whole lot more elk talk going on besides that though. I plan to hunt them next Sept. so we can do a lot more calling and get them into bow range.

Sounds like you' re hitting the mark with your calling. Some thing I' ll be putting in a bit more effort, before next season.
Don' t those bugles just get your blood running.
Thanks for sharing the photos.
