What is the best time of day to hunt black bears without bait. i know the mornings and evenings are good but what about the afternoon.

Depends on how much pressure they are under. Where hunted hard they are hard to find outside of low light conditions. Where lightly hunted they can be found anytime. I have seen them at high noon feeding on berries on avalanche slides in CO.
