Default Rabies considerations

With warm weather approaching and possible drought conditions in some states, (turkey)hunters may want to consider the following while in their outdoor pursuits:

A rabid bear would not be good.

The counties I hunt have had rabid horses and cows along w/the usual suspects: foxes, bats, skunks and raccoons. Merciless virus not to be taken lightly.

When I was in the field handling mammals all the time I got shots as a preventative, that way if I handles something and got bitten or saliva in my eyes or in a cut, if the animal tested positive all I would need was a booster instead of the series of shots.

Rabid raccoons are the worst. They are the uninvited guests who mostly visit our home. Check out this http://www.hawkeye.ca/rabies-updates...es-in-raccoons.. They may seem to be naughty, but they are dangerous and a single bite from a rabid raccoon may ruin our life.
