Does anyone have experience in hunting Elk in New Mexico Area 2? My dad and I were drawn for archery tags, and will be out there the first week of September. We are using an outfitter for the first couple days, and after that we'll be on our own. I've been watching a lot of videos and doing a lot of reading, as well as practicing at the range as well as physical conditioning. Any tips are appreciated!

Are you going to be staying right in the same area hunting after the first couple days with the outfitter? If you are, you should be able to figure out what you want to do and how to do it after the first couple days with the guide you'll have. Good luck!
