Extreme Huntress

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all, I'm Cheyenne. I'm 18 years old with the passion to hunt like no one else. I'm not rich and nor is my family so I've never been on any exotic hunts but would love the chance. I live in Alaska and have for most of my life where killing big game is the life! I'm here to ask for your vote in helping me win the 2014 most Extreme huntress award where the winner gets a prized hunting package to wherever Tom Opre (producer of Eye of the Hunter) wants to send them. I'm dreaming it'll be me but I need your vote to do that. I've Killed bears caribou and even this year completed a successful registration hunt out of Valdez harvesting a beautiful Mountain Goat. I'd say they are one of the most extreme animals to have conquered! And not many can say they have nor can many 18 year old girls at that. If you have more questions or need more info just reply but If you think this is good enough to cast your vote you can go to www.ExtremeHuntress.com/vote where you can vote in less than 30 seconds of your time. Even there you can read my essay on how I was picked into the top 4 finalists for the nation. Also every Sunday a new video will be posted to the website that was taken during our head to head skills competion down in Hondo,TX. So Share the website with your friends and vote away.
Thanks and Happy Hunting!
Cheyenne

Good luck to you in your endeavor.
Personally I don't advocate turning our outdoor pursuits into competitions. That goes for big buck contests and bass tournaments and everything else. Just my opinion.
All the same you are one of us and I hope you do well.

"I live in Alaska and have for most of my life where killing big game is the life! "

Just the killing, and not the hunting?

Bullcamp82834 10-10-2013 08:44 AM

I think you are being too picky Pete. She made a poor choice of words.

Muley Hunter 10-10-2013 08:54 AM

Maybe. She sounds like a trophy hunter.

Bullcamp82834 10-10-2013 09:50 AM

With age will come wisdom. If I had unlimited access and moderate money when I was 18 I'd probably have been the same way.

Florida Man 10-10-2013 02:53 PM

Miss Dalburg, you got my vote.

So is being a trophy hunter bad?

I also gave you my vote.

It is if you're asking for my vote.

Ridge Runner 10-10-2013 05:09 PM

ya got my vote!
RR

Bullcamp82834 10-11-2013 03:21 AM

I checked out the website and read about all the contestants. Didn't vote. Don't know any of the ladies.

LoneWati 10-12-2013 09:11 PM

Got my vote and good luck in your adventures!

Diss her for using the wrong word, while defending Jon cuz he is young? How does that jive?

Besides, as Uncle Ted says, "To grill it, first you have to kill it"

She grew up in Alaska where saying "kill" is OK and not banned by the PC crowd.

She gets my vote

A stranger comes to the forum, and asks for a vote? I only know what she says about herself.

I know Jon.

Do you guys vote for politicians the same way?

txhunter58 10-13-2013 09:27 AM

And any 18 year old that doesn't say things just the right way certainly doesn't deserve our vote? I don't know her from Adam, but she obviously has a passion for the sport, and I support that, so she gets my vote.

Bullcamp82834 10-13-2013 10:09 AM

Pete is right. So sayeth the delegation from Robinson Canyon.

It's not what she said. It's what she asked. I don't vote for strangers. How is that fair to the other contestants? I'm sure she made this same thread on as many forums as she could find. Never to return again.

You gave her a vote not knowing any of the other contestants. Why? What would you do if another contestant comes here, and asks for your vote?

txhunter58 10-13-2013 01:34 PM

Why? Because she had the drive to go on 100 websites to try and drum up votes. These "elections" or "opinion polls" online are all bogus, they mean nothing. But when an 18 year old girl wants to go hunting that bad, I support her in her effort even though I don't know her.

Reading her essay reminded me of ME when I was that age, and that is more and more rare that youth feel that way, especially in girls.

I even messaged her and told her about our Father/Daughter hunting weekend at my ranch here in Texas that we hold every year and told her if interested that she and her Dad could come hunt here the next time in Texas. To me encouraging youth in hunting is one of the things that still gives me pleasure.

akhoytgirl 10-13-2013 02:25 PM

Hello and thanks for your votes! So I see there are questions, no I am not a trophy hunter. Yes everyone wants the 'big buck' so they can brag to their friends but of course I hunt for the meat. In Alaska meat is a lot more expensive and I refuse to eat that chemically infused garbage. And when the freezer gets full I enjoy being out in the woods and help neighbors who cannot get out there to also fill their freezers. Its not about the kill it's subsistence hunting with also the want for bragging rights and taking mature adult animals. The competition is to have a female role model to help bring more women into hunting since divorce rates are so high, if the kiddos see mum hunting hopefully she will teach on the way of life we all love. In my case since I don't have kids I want to get more teenagers and even younger girls to have a good role model to look up to. I have taken friends out who have never held a gun in their life and now they love hunting. Ex boyfriend's little siblings I have brought them to the range to teach them proper gun safety. If you'd like you can go to my Facebook page Ak Huntress and see more pictures. Thank you all and happy hunting!

Muley Hunter 10-13-2013 05:02 PM

You should have said that to begin with. You have my vote, and keep up the good work.

akhoytgirl 10-14-2013 01:22 AM

Sorry Mr. Pete I'm not very good at a choice of words but I do give my word that I'm not just a pretty girl who likes to pose with animals and make a TV show for kicks and giggles. I want to pass on my Love and passion from generation to generation and also get others who weren't so lucky to be taught to want to be shown our way of life. Sure I've been posting to other forums to get votes but I also revisit every one I've been to because I love to talk about hunting. Thank you for your votes!

Phil from Maine 10-14-2013 02:02 AM

I just voted for you as well. Good Luck with this.

Muley Hunter 10-14-2013 06:43 AM

Good luck in the competition Cheyenne. I see you're falling behind in the votes. Hopefully you can make it up in the skills competition.

Nitro.Bass 10-14-2013 05:46 PM

You're the only one who asked for my vote, so you got it.

BarnesX.308 10-18-2013 08:36 AM

To hunt mountain goat in Alaska, I would need about $20,000. :D

Excellent point.
I was thinking along those lines myself after reading this thread.

txhunter58 10-18-2013 04:34 PM

So move to Alaska and you can do it on the cheap. Each state has their own perks.

akhoytgirl 10-21-2013 01:22 AM

It was a registration goat hunt in Valdez where there is a quota of 5 goats. My dad has a boat so all it cost was 300$ in gas and food. But yes, each state has their perks. Sucky part about non residents of AK is goats and brown bears you need a guide and that's why it's so expensive. Even harvest tags for non residents aren't cheap! I get black bear, moose, and caribou free as for non residents its hundreds of dollars. Black bear tags alone are above 200$. But Alaska makes over a quarter of income from tourists so we kinda need you non residents

Muley Hunter 10-21-2013 06:44 AM

I saw one of the shows of you Cheyenne. (youtube) You did good.

Bob H in NH 10-24-2013 12:19 PM

I watched the shows, bummer they included antler/trophy scoring of deer. Bad luck on the task for you!

Looking forward to your hunting session, girl you followed around seemed to need some help!

Muley Hunter 10-24-2013 12:24 PM

The girl she helped didn't seem to know anything, and got lucky. She was asking the cameraman for advice.

Sorry,

No offense intended. It just jumped out at me.

Muley Hunter 10-24-2013 01:28 PM

Offended?? Did you forget who you're talking too?

Gutter comment was a joke bro.

I know but Cal gets mad at me when I get out of line and I wanted to toss in a bit of an apology to anyone I may have offended.

I know you weren't bothered.

Bob H in NH 11-27-2013 05:59 AM

For any not watching, Cheyenne (the post originator) is doing well, she jumped up to second place with her long range shooting. Two of the girls are clearly "guided" all the time, not Cheyenne. They had 2 minutes to shoot 6 shots, at distances out to 300 yards (I think 2 at each distance). Her gun jammed and she reacted quickly to clear it and get back to shooting. I think this would have floored some of the contestants.

It's coming down to Cheyenne from Alaska and Amanda from Idaho, both are clearly good hunters and comfortable with the process.

***What am I missing here as the website shows that Cheyenne is a distant 4th among the four ladies with only 12% of the fan votes! It says the final results are a combination of the fan votes and what the Judges give them. Where do you see something to show that Cheyenne is presently in second place?

If you watch the show on line, they show the standings, probably for the skills competitions which she's done pretty well in. They haven't included the scores for hunting though. Cheyenne finally did connect on a hunt.

There's 2 that seem comfortable hunting on their own, Cheyene and Amanda, and they are paired together on hunts.
