It was a joke, because it was laughing at those with a Win 94.

I don't shoot chipmunks, or live in Washington.

Same in CO. Chipmunks are not consider legal game and if someone gets caught shooting them they aren't going to be happy after the Game Warden gets done with them. Matter of fact, this isn't even something to be joking about since anti-hunters also read these forums just looking for comments like this to use against us.

I have never attempted to shoot an elk or moose. However, I would only try to do it with a 30-30 if it was all I had and I was starving. The 3006 is much more capable of doing the job right and may save a lot of looking for a wounded animal.

If you had shot an elk you'd realize how effective the 30-30 is on them.

I have a group of friends that hunt the first rifle season with open sight 30-30 and 45-70. They are generally 4-5 out of 6 and have yet to lose one yet that I can remember. They all limit their shots to less than 200 yards so they have to pass on many opportunities. However, you can't argue with their success rate (all public land). It is not my cup or tea, but for them it works great.

It's even more effective if you keep the shots under 100yds.
