Hello all, I was looking to book an elk hunt and was wondering where is the best place is to book it. I figured some people on here might have some good recommendations from experience on some places.
Thank you

You need to give more info as to what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. Do you need a guided hunt? Do you just want an elk or are you looking for a P&Y or B&C? What weapon do you plan to use, bow or gun? What kind of physical shape are you in, do you have limitations, can you climb steep grades at 10,000 ft or do you need something much flatter? Do you want to pack back in on a wilderness hunt or is a cabin hunt more to your liking? Do you ride horses or prefer not to? How much time do you have before the hunt, and for the hunt, can you wait a few years for a draw tag or want to go in 2013?

You need to define "best place", what's important to you:
- lodge vs tent camp
- horse vs trucks
- lots of elk vs massive elk (lots of massive is possible, but $$$$)
- OTC vs draw a tag
- cost
- physical restrictions

My apologies, should have thought of this stuff.
I have no physical restrictions
I am in very good shape
I am going to be using a rifle
I want a guided hunt
Have never ridden a horse
I just want the best chance of getting an elk so I don't care if its a huge trophy.
I don't really have any money restriction.

With what we know so far, I would say if you want to go this year to look for a landowner tag or an outfitter sponsored tag in either Colorado or New Mexico. All you need to do is google those on the computer and you should be able to get started looking for what you want. Then before signing anything ask for comments on hunting sites like this to see what others have to say about the outfit, as well as asking for references from then from all the past hunters the previous year or two and not just the successful ones so you get a truer picture of what you're about to enter into.
