Default another guess at bear weight

ok heres another pic of the bear plus a pic of me at the same tree for comparison. im 6'3" 205lbs if you look you will see a knot on the left side of the tree trunk that comes up to my waist its also at about the top of the bears back i measured that knot at 44" so how much does HE weigh

The 2 pictures do give it some size perspective. A 44" high bear would be a real monster since most bears are only about 3' high. I would add 150 pounds or more to my estimate making it 350 plus...but most bears I have seen around here are way smaller than that. I think I have only seen 1 dead one that was 350 pounds and it was a huge bore. I know they get much bigger than 350 but not many around northern Vt or at least that I have seen. The one thing with bears is they are usually smaller than the hunter thinks they are. Even a cub can look pretty big when it is alone without another bear to compare it to..

Looks to be about 250 pounds. If it were any bigger the stomach would be closer to the ground and the legs would look very short.
