Default PA - World Record Bear

Haven't seen this posted yet. I hear that, once this becomes official, this will be the world record black bear shot by a hunter. There is one bear that is 1/16" bigger that was found dead in Utah.

I guess a world record whitetail would get more attention

I hadn't heard of it prior to this. Thanks for posting. A couple big ones come out of PA every year.

Congrats to the hunter! That's a fine bear. I'd have thought the next record would have come out of Eastern N.C.

I've seen plenty of articles on it but surprised that there is nothing on Boone & Crockett's Trophy Watch.

I'm not surprised it came from PA. Every year there are several 700+ pound bears and one over 800lbs pops up every now and then.

What are the legal means of hunting bear in NC? We are not allowed to use bait or hounds. Our main bear season is 3 days at the end of November. Makes for a very low success rate and a lot of OLD bears.

That bear would be a for sure North American Hunting Competition winner. I wonder if he entered it? Congrats what a great bear!!

I believe they just outlawed baiting for bears. Which scratched them off of my list. Hounds, are still ok. I assume drives are ok as well.

The Coastal region, produces some really nice bears.

Guys who drive with lots of guys generally do well. We ner have more than a few guys so we don't do so well. We just sit and watch. I've seen two bears and got one so far. Plus, our season is in late November so early winters make it tough as well.

We just pulled 3 trail camers and had 5 different bears. All day time shots.

It's crazy that I haven't looked into a bear hunt in PA yet. Absolute monsters up there.
