I know the 270 win is a great for deer and probably would be great on caribou. But what about moose. If you loaded up with some penetrating bulets would it be more than enough. Whats the defferences in the body builds between moose and elk.

No, but it would be "adequate". Moose are definetely bigger/tougher than elk but wouldn't say they are harder to kill because they generally don't run to the next county when wounded like an elk does.

If you have to ask you've already got it in your head it's too small. Yep time for a new gun.

You can give me your puny little .270...I'll take it and some off the shelf Remington Core-locks and go moose hunting......I mean I wouldn't want ya to have a gun you feel you can't depend on!!!!!!! That goes for everyone with them anemic 30.06s and plum dinky 30-30s or any other gun you don't deem big enough for mule deer, elk or moose......a .270 will kill anything in North or South America! BUT like I say send it to me I'll use it!!!!!!!!!

I guess it would depend on the yardage you plan to shoot IMO.

The .270 has been killing moose since the 1920's.

Go forth, and slay the moose.

He probably means they weren't needed in the old days, and they aren't needed now either.

Although you can use them if you feel the need.
