Wolf Tags.
 

Wolf tags went on sale here in Idaho thursday, I got mine!!! They are only $11.50. Not bad, a dang turkey tag here goes for $19.75, I know which I would rather shoot.

non-resident fees??

A Non-Resident tag is $186.

$186 for a predator tag? They should pay us to clean up their mess.

Thats not a bad price. We're still waiting for our F&G to finalize the quota numbers for our wolf hunt. When they do, i too will be hunting a wolf this fall, as for turkey tag, our's is just $6.50, but would still rather buy the wolf tag!!! Good luck to you this fall!

Same here scottb3472; waiting for them to give the ok & I will be one of the first in line to get the wolf tag here in MT. I just seen a monster black wolf yesterday driving to work; its time for him to pay... lol

MT and ID would be better served by lowering their non-resident wolf tag fee and then charging a trophy fee of say $150 to successful non-resident hunters. Not many people will pay that kind of money for what amounts to a long shot incidental. They'd be better off getting more people licensed to take them and then charge them after they bag one. Most folks would fork over the coin after they had one in the bag. Alaska has dropped the non-resident wolf tag fee in a lot of areas to encourage non-resident hunters to take wolves while they're hunting other species. Wolves are tough to target specifically and most are taken incidentally to something else just on a dumb luck basis.

certainly a lower tag fee would increase non-res tag sales and overall revenue, at $35 etc....every non-res elk/deer hunter would buy a tag just to have one just in case.

at $186/300+ you almost have to make it a special trip/hunt to justify that. ID requires a non-res hunting license, so essentially the same price as MT's tag I believe around $300 to hunt a wolf in ID/MT as a non-res.
