i know the R700 beats the R770, but is the remy 770 really all that bad? i got a 30 06 camo with stainless for $350 at walmart cause i waited for a savage they said they had for two hours that was never there. they gave me the 770 for 350 and a box of bullets. how bad is this gun

I woulda waited for the Savage... but, shoot it, see how it does. SOme ppl get good acuracy out of them. If you don't like it, sell it and buy a savage.

I worked on one for a guy once. A 770 that is. ANd the other guy is right the Sav is the better rifle. But the 770 really wasnt all that bad and the guy killed 3 elk in three yrs with it so how bad was it? What I had to do for him was shim his scope base becasue his Burris for some reason had too much enough elevation or something I forget. I put in two thin shims and he re zeroed it perfect and kilt an elk a few weeks later. I think his was a 300 win mag but I am old and forget easy. It's a good starter gun. The high falutin guys herwe will always diss stuff like the 770 but not everbody here on HN has a Blazer 3000 budget. Good luck.

my dad bought one,its a disposable rifle,if something breaks you might as well toss it.the bolt on his is also very stiff,at times its hard to even load it.accuracy leaves something to be desired.i bought a savage 111.he wishes he did.its basiacaly better of served as a fence post.
