My son and I had some luck this week up in District 3, near Caribou, Maine.
This nice bull came out to some cow in heat calls just before 9 am on Opening Day. He ended up weighing 778 lbs dressed out. The rack was 43" with 14 points - sure not the biggest Aroostook County moose but respectable e'nuf!
We had prescouted the area for seven days before the hunt and had seen about 50 moose. A friend from Caribou who I had met on a moose hunt in 2006 was very gracious in offering to let us camp out on his back 40 and in offering us some local advise.

As most of you folks know, getting drawn for a moose lottery permit in Maine ain't all that easy, so my son was pretty lucky. Most people wait many years to get drawn, if then.
Two minutes after we had downed the bull, he turned to me and said, "I can't wait to do this again !"
