Default Deer in SW Mont?

Does this region 3 have mulies? whitetail? is it pretty much anything with horns get shot? any trophy potential? I guess either way, if I get a chance at one I'm going to take it with the bow, otherwise, I won't. Just don't know much about deer in the region.

I have the big game combo this fall, so both a deer and elk tag, may come back later in the year and hunt out east though, but heck if I can get it all done at once, why not?

Thanks.

PS- If anyone has a block management property recommendation for deer in region 7, any info would be appreciated.

There are both Mule Deer and White tail Deer hunting opportunities in Region 3 in Montana. Some districts in Region 3 are special draw only Mule Deer hunting areas. Are you coming with a guide? Do you know about where you are hunting? I grew up and live here in Region 3.

You should be able to find mule deer where you are elk hunting and whitetail in the river bottoms. That far west, you may even find some whitetail in the mountains as well. Over the last 10-15 years it seems like the whitetail are taking over. That is a litter farther west than I hunt, but I have friends that hunt that area of the state quite a bit.
