Default 20 gauge slug for black bear?

How would a 20 gauge sabot slug be for black bear hunting. Most of these slugs have better ballistics than the .44 magnum, and tread on the heels of the .30-30; both of which are good black bear cartridges. Has anyone ever done this and what slugs would you recommend?

Over bait, a slug would probably be great.

None the less when I have the option of hunting with a rifle vs. a slug gun, I'll take a rifle 100% of the time, period!

A 20 ga slug in the right place on a bear will absolutely do the job.

Yes at close range it will be fine. I have seen a few bears taken with a 20ga but they were all over bait with a shot under 30 yds.
