What price range?
what weapon?
What time of year?
What size/sex elk will you be happy with?
What part of the country (NW, SW)?
What success rate are you looking for?

Don't mean to ask so many quesitons, but "can you recommend an elk outfitter" is like saying "can you recommend a car"

comes in all shapes and sizes!

You are also starting to run late for 2010, draw deadlines are coming or may have past and many outfitters are booking up now. If you are in the northeast, a great way to get a feel for what's out there is the Harrisburg PA show!

Check out Winterhawk Outfitters Colorado. Thing is hunts are booking up now. So if want to book a hunt for this fall I wouldn't wait too awful long. Otherwise I'd look into it for 2011. I took 3 yrs to plan my 1st elk hunt.
Anyways I've hunted w/winterhawk 2x's, and going back this Sept. They've been in business for over 20yrs, very family orientated, treat you great. Its a mtn horseback western style hunt. They've been on Outdoor Ch several times w/Wild Outdoors, Babe Winkleman, Outfitters Journal. If contact them they will send you their info, and a DVD. www.winterhawk.com

I have a couple of fantastic elk hunts as well as a couple of elk/mule deer combo hunts available if you are still looking. These hunts are conducted on thousands of acres of private property with a ton of elk and very high success rates. Cost for an elk only hunt is 3300.00 and the elk/deer combo hunts are available for 4500.00. If you are still looking, drop me an email or give me a call. Thanks and good hunting!!!

Steamboat Lake Outfitters

They hunt private land or Pack into Mt Zirkle National Wilderness area both guided or drop camps. They treated me well and were willing to adapt to give me the hunt that fit my needs.
