Never mind thats not where I work. I work in Northern Ontario about 4.5 hours from Winnipeg. Anyways do you guys have to draw just to hunt?? over here we automatically get calf tags good for anywhere then we have to get drawn for bull or cow. We go with an outfitter so they give us a cow and bull tag as weel as we apply last year we had 3 calf tags 2 bull tags and a cow tag. We Tagged two bulls one on day one the other the next day. It was my first season I didn' t get one but I am hoping this is the year!

Certain areas are draw areas. These tend to be the highest demand/best areas but there are also lots of places where you can get a tag over the counter. Generally its a bull only tag.
We don' t use any outfitters. We do all do-it-your-self type hunts. A little more work but cheaper.
If a guy has a good place to go for the years that he isn' t drawn, he can hunt moose every year and have good success rates. We' ve actually had more success in the general areas than the draw areas.
Last year we were drawn for archery moose so this year our chances of being drawn are basically nil. Most places you have to be in the 2nd or 3rd priority level to be drawn. There are 5 levels and after you' ve been drawn, you start at the bottom the next year. You move up one level each year. New applicants start at level 4.
This year and next we' ll be hunting in the non draw areas for sure. Maybe after that we' ll get drawn again. If this new moose area works out, we' ll start applying for elk instead. You can only apply for one species each year.

Oh man, all this talking about it is just making it worse. 144 days to go!

I see like I said here we get a calf tag you can hunt anywhere with then you appl for an adult in a certian area. All tthe outfitter does for us is gives us 2 guarenteed adult tags one bull one cow flys us to the lake and we get t use thier cabins and boats and motors we so everything else ourselves. I am itching now. I am in pool 1 this year for tags so I am hopeing to pull one then hopefully have one come out I have been practicing my calling ticking off everyone in my hous I can' t wait!
