If I' m not hunting with my 338 Win. Mag. with HE 250 grain partition' s at 2800 fps
(might cause a flinch with some guys) then I' m hunting with my 375 H&H. Though, I got two new guns to play with this year - 300 WSM and a 280 Remington that' ll receive some field time.

I' ll put in my 2cent.

1. Yes...I' m skinny and an old shoulder injury doesn' t help at all.
2. Nope
3. Guess that would be the 30.06 or the 12g. with magnums..not sure which is worse...lol
4. No idea but a 30.06 is too much after two heavy rounds

No, I am not recoil sensitive.
30-06 with heavy loads is quite tame, comparably. This is a fine cartridge, and there is a reason for its popularity.
Largest cartridge I have shot is a .50 BMG, however, this thing was a little girl when compared to my 45/70 with 540 grain Garrett Loads. (The .50 was a 42 pound sniper weapon, hence little recoil).
Recoil doesn' t bother me that much, but there is nothing that I cannot take with my 45/70, the gun will go through an elephant lengthwise. Best caliber on earth.

Yes, shoulder injuries/surgeries have left me extremely recoil-sensitive.
Yes, I can handle a 30-06 with stout loads. Don' t like it too much, though.
The biggest I have tried is the .340 Wby Mag (actually, it is the .375 H&H, but the .340 appeared to kick harder).
My upper range limit for recoil are the " standard" 7mm mags (Rem and Wby).

Due to my shoulder problems, I can comfortably shoot my 7 Rem Mag in range situation (20 plus rounds) without flinch or after effects. However I can handle more with minimal shots (approx.5) but due to my own requirements of having to be able to hone and practice with the rifle, I have limited myself to the 7 Rem Mag.

1) No, but I have had flinch problems, but finally figured out it was actaully the noise and a better pair of ear muffs did the trick

No, I' m not recoil sensitive.
Yes, hot rodded .30-06 loads aren' t a problem.
I shot a .600Nitro custom once, and often shoot a .50BMG that doesn' t really count (on a tripod with dual shoulder wraps and butterfly grip), but shoot .458Lott and .416rigby sporters quite often.
Just from practice, I RARELY~NEVER flinch, I won' t say NEVER, but it' s once in a blue moon or only when I forget ear plugs or what I' m doing. I can' t say a given cartridge that would make me flinch because of this, if I' m not paying attention, sometimes I flinch when I shoot my SKS, just because it' s so FREAKIN LOUD!!

One thing to remember though Bigbulls, a shotgun blast is a much longer shove than a high-powered rifle kick, that' s why most never complain about shotguns kicking too much, it' s kind of like the .480ruger and the .454cassul, regardless of the fact that the .480 actually kicks harder, it feels like a long hard shove, as opposed to the sharp hard kick to the hand of the .454.

Yes I flinch occasionally. Not all the time but especially if it' s been a while since I' ve been on the range. Easily fixed by dropping down a calibre or two and firing a few rounds, then reverting back to the first gun.
Most recoil I' ve had was from a Live Capture Net Gun. Don' t make the mistake of putting one of those babies on your shoulder. Definitely a shoot from the hip gun.
They shoot four steel weights that are about 1/2 pound each. The net goes about 40 feet or so.
Upper limit of what I' m comfortable with, 7mm Mag. 175 grain and hot load.
Unlike others in this forum, I' m not a fan of the larger calibres or long distance shooting.

2.yes, i shoot a 30-06 with 165 grain and it isnt a problem with recoil. and am deffinate that i could shoot heavier and bigger guns
