bear hunting anywhere in canada is risky that late in the year if you want a hide that is not rubbed.I personally would hunt in B.C. or alberta where you can take two bears per year. You will see many more bears as well as some off colored bears.

Been on many a Bear Bowhunt-mostly in 1st part of June BUT I took a P&Y Bear in Quebec the last week of June a few years back-I have a full mount & it is the finest hide of any Bears I have taken. 7 Bears were taken that week & not one had a rub mark.. Enjoy your hunt....

Well it is likey that is it is same here as we border quebec, There will be bugs, it should be warm and the bears will be hitting the baits hard. it should be nice and sunny the hide may be rubbed I got one the night of the stanley cup two years so about a week or before you are hunting and it was rubb and so was the bear last year and that was in the second week of may so it just depends on the bear

4 years ago I took one of the largest and nicest bear on the second last day of our season: June 14th (I believe). It was warm, bugs were aweful, but I saw 12 bears that night of which most were boars. I will say that all but 2 of the boars I saw had been rubbing and had poor coats, but the one I got was super. My tidbit of advice is a bug suit or non-scented insect juice is a must and check him out on all sides before pulling pin!!!
Have fun and good luck
