RE: How to scope a .338
Great advise, I' m looking to stay in the 3-9 now, I think. I will have to look at a few of the different scopes and things to know what I want, but the advise is really good so far. What of a longer eye relief scope like scout scopes. Anyone use them? Thanks

RE: How to scope a .338
First Time,
Elk Hunting is a rugged enndeavor and far from home -- it is not near as easy to remedy scope/rifle problems as back home in the local deer patch. All the scopes look shiny in the gun case and some prices can be alluring. What you don' t want is to be the one around the camp fire bemoaning lack of success due to scope problems. Go Leupold. We' ve had scope polls here before and Leupold wins them 4 to 1. Second thought, be sure to take your 270 Win with you as a back up/camp rifle -- always nice to have insurance (270 Win:150gr Noslers if you' re buying or 160 gr noslers if you reload).
