5,600 ft/lbs? That is a BEAST. What do you hunt with that bad boy? Has anything NOT dropped on the spot when hit by it? Do you always use the 5,600 ft/lbs load for hunting? Can you describe the effect of hitting a creature with such a bomb?

tussey, they were mainly hunting the river that they were boating on. They came around a bend and glassed the moose from quite a ways down a straight stretch. He got up on a higher point on the beach and took a single shot at the cow. That's all I remember him telling me about the story, except that when the bullet hit the moose the thing was tripped over sideways.
I asked him how much that gun weighed but for the life of me don't remember.

I'd like to buy a double "730", but wonder if Blain will start something, since the one I'm talking about is a double barrel shotgun, shooting slugs! ~~~Suluuq

A double barrel slug gun!!!! My goodness, the power, the speed, the sexy appeal. At any rate I find your name rather humerous, Rusty-Gunn. That's the same nick name "BIG Country's wife calls him <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
Just kidding with ya, you big lug

I don't know if you fellas would be interested but last year my neighbor Stinky Butt brought over his youngest sons(he really aint the father)rifle. It was one of those 50 caliber single shots. Well after Stinky passed the bottle around a few times(can't remember) I touched the Big Gun off. Cost me $88.72 to get my hearing aid fixed and I almost chocked to death on my teeth. Yeah, go ahead and laugh, thats what that dang Stinky Butt and his youngest boy did. I'm here to tell you it's too heavy for shooting cats but just about right to put one through the neighbors outhouse.

Blain; I personally think that foot pounds energy is generally very overrated as a performance factor on "larger big game". However at adequate velocities large bore diameter does play a very relavent role.
But to answer your question, "No". I like a med.-bore as a practical compromise.( 3/8" bore or better known as .375"-memtb
